Journeying Through the Story – Christmas Journey
Journeying Through the Story – Christmas Journey
Every November and December, SparkFish brings the Christmas story to life in a way that Year 2 pupils will never forget — through our Christmas Journey.
Held at local churches in Reigate, Redhill and Horley, this interactive experience invites children to move from tent to tent (all indoors), exploring key scenes from the Nativity story.
Designed especially for younger children, the Christmas Journey allows them to not just hear the story, but to step into it — asking questions, engaging with the characters, and taking an active role in the unfolding events.
Each class visits one at a time, with half the children taking part in the journey while the other half enjoy a Christmas-themed craft activity. Then the groups swap over, so every child gets the full experience.
The narrative is always faithful to the Bible, and we encourage pupils to reflect, explore, and begin to understand the deeper meaning of Christmas — all in an age-appropriate, engaging way.
SparkFish also offers visits throughout the year to support the wider RE curriculum, helping schools deepen their teaching on faith and values.
Some schools walk to the venue, while others can request transport on our buses. The entire event is free of charge, but donations are always welcome to help us continue offering this special journey to as many children as possible.
The Christmas Journey is more than just a festive activity — it’s a meaningful encounter with a timeless story, thoughtfully crafted to inspire curiosity, wonder, and understanding.
We can’t wait to welcome students back to the Christmas Journey this week – starting in Horley and then moving to Redhill and Reigate.
